About Kerry Shamblin

Thank you for visiting this site. My purpose here is to share knowledge that inspires me and ideas that I have generated while practicing and studying Vedic astrology. I became interested in Astrology in the mid-1990's, and began my explorations through Western astrology, as that resource was readily available. I soon turned to the Vedic view, and have been studying Jyotish (Vedic astrology, literally "the science of light") since 1997. At this point, the study and practice of Jyotish will likely be a lifelong pursuit.

I am a professional member of the Council of Vedic Astrology and have been granted the certification to teach and practice jyotish by the CVA. Thanks to Marga Laube for her wonderful mentorship through that program.

I was first introduced to Hindu/Vedic culture when I was twenty years old. After spending one year in traditional higher education, I found myself instead working for a Nepali family in Boulder, CO. Soon, I was traveling back and forth between Nepal and Colorado, helping with the family business, and spending time in the village, living with the elderly parents and teaching at the local school that the family had started. After three months of staying in Nepal, I had quickly learned to speak the language and was readily absorbing many aspects of the interesting culture. I also did some traveling in India, which was one of the most vivid experiences of my life so far.

Since 1992, I have considered myself a student of Vedic Wisdom, thanks to the wonderful teachings of Yogacharya Dharmananda at his ashram in Rishikesh, Uttar Pradesh, India. I enjoy spending my time learning about the various branches of ancient knowledge that have been kept alive on the Indian Subcontinent and attempting to translate what I learn into useful applications for living a balanced life in the modern age. I especially love how all of the different branches of Vedic knowledge, such as Jyotish, Ayurveda, Vedanta, and Yoga support one another and together form a comprehensive system of understanding our existence and living a balanced life.
