Mercury Transits Aries May 6 – 23

Leading his exalted friend Venus, Mercury moves out of his debilitation sign of Pisces and onto the dry land of Aries, joining the exalted Sun on May 6th. Mercury in Aries will carry us forward with a feeling of hitting the ground running. April was about what to pack going forward and the train leaving the station. May is about moving forward ready or not. Choose to look ahead and engage with what is in your face rather than remaining mired in what is now behind you.

May will be the final month of Jupiter’s Taurus transit, Rahu’s Pisces transit, and Ketu’s Virgo transit. Mercury in Aries will be helping us reorganize and recalibrate for the year ahead, which starting in the late days of May, will feature a growth amplifier created by the mutual aspect of Rahu and Jupiter in the air signs.

We are transitioning from an outer planet focus on earth and water signs toward engagement with the air and fire signs. With the exception of Saturn just starting a watery transit through Pisces, we will have Rahu in the air sign Aquarius through December 2026 and Jupiter in the air sign Gemini through May 2026, with the added spark of Ketu in Leo through December 2026.

We may feel that the middle of May is a return to efficiency, quicker transactions, and easier starts. This Mercury transit through Aries could feel fast and furious, so prep now for maximum energy efficiency, remembering that Mars, ruler of Aries, is still mired in the watery energy of Cancer with Rahu sending his final chaotic ripples into Cancer before his transit toward end of May.

This equation equals out to high potential for frustration stemming from Mars’ inability to move with maximum power in Cancer. Allow the wonder of Mercury to find the lessons and the humor in those frustrating moments, bringing you back to completing the task at hand. Choose focus over frustration.

A heads up for the sign of Libra during this time! Mercury and Mars will be aspecting you, Libra. The potential for feeling the pressure of deciding and choosing may arise. Mercury and Mars could cause overthinking and overanalyzing that leads to a freeze state. Both of these heady planets aren’t going to help you feel the truth of your decision. With Venus exalted in Pisces through May, take a walk in a quiet place and let the truth bubble up without input from others.

Mercury breaks up the band when he exits Pisces, leaving behind his team, Venus, Saturn, and Rahu. It is becoming clear that these team meetings may not be meant for peace and quiet, as the shakedown of Saturn and Rahu joining together tends to make big waves, no matter what sign. The last period of time with a similar team meeting was September 2013, when Rahu, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury were in Libra, which is also the last time we had a Rahu and Saturn conjunction that lasted more than 1.5 years. Our 2025 Saturn and Rahu conjunction will only have been six weeks.

Full Moon in Libra/Vishaka May 12

The next big planetary event comes on May 12th with the full Moon at 28 degrees Libra, opposing the Sun at 28 degrees Aries. Libra is an air sign, further bringing forward the theme of initiation into new ideas, bold actions, bringing balance, and desire for justice.

Vishaka nakshatra supports new beginnings and business ventures, but also turns out to reflect a complex archetype. First, Vishaka is one of those spanner nakshatras that stretches between two signs, in this case between the air sign Libra and the water sign Scorpio. The Moon is debilitated at 3 degrees Scorpio, in the last degree of Vishaka, which is ironic, with Vishaka ruled by Jupiter and Scorpio ruled by Mars, both planets being friendly to the Moon.

Vishaka has a Venus and Jupiter vibration, with much of the nakshatra being in Libra and having Jupiter as the planetary ruler. What an auspicious moment as we see Jupiter moving out of Venus’ Taurus just a couple of days later. The symbol associated with Vishaka is a triumphal archway, signifying crossing a threshold or reaching a pinnacle of achievement. Recognize the positive aspects of what is coming to completion at this time, which could be a culmination of the energy of Jupiter’s transit through Taurus since May 2024.

This full Moon carries a good measure of motivation and momentum with three of the four movable signs activated. Sun and Mercury are in Aries, aspecting Libra. Mars is in Cancer, aspecting Libra also, and Moon will be in Libra. Changing the channel requires an action; the energy of mid-May supports finding the strategy and resources to move forward.

Remember that Mars’ potential for frustration or impatience while he continues to paddle through Cancer can throw unwanted wrenches into the works. Find a release valve to avoid building too much pressure with that steam!

Jupiter Transits Gemini May 14, 2025 – June 2, 2026

The full Moon of May 12th fully ushers in part two of the major outer planets changing during Spring 2025. The eclipses of March flowed into Saturn moving to Pisces, which was part one. In May, we see Jupiter move from Taurus to Gemini, followed by the nodal axis shifting by month’s end. We may collectively feel as if we’ve experienced that channel change by beginning of June.

Jupiter’s last transit of Gemini was from June 1, 2013 - June 18, 2014. That time reflects a similar energy that we can expect for the year ahead from May 14, 2025 – June 2, 2026. If you are finding patterns emerging that make you think of 12 years ago, there is a good chance that it is an auspicious nudge from Jupiter to attend to a new cycle of growth, which could involve completion of that previous cycle.

Similar to that last Jupiter transit of Gemini, we will be experiencing a very dynamic mutual aspect with Jupiter and Rahu both occupying air signs. Each of these planetary beings casts energy in the same way; we’re talking about the aspect ability that each planet holds to throw their energy into different zones, which affects the happenings in those zones.

All of the planets have a natural aspect which is opposition. In addition to this, some of the planets have special aspects. Jupiter and Rahu both aspect 120 degrees from them, which means that wherever they are, they affect all of the signs of the same element. When they both occupy signs of the same element, we get the growth amplifier!

That means Jupiter mostly affects Gemini, where he will transit, as well as the opposite sign, Sagittarius. In addition, Libra and Aquarius will feel Jupiter’s buoyancy. Rahu will be in Aquarius, aspecting the opposite sign of Leo, where Ketu will naturally be transiting. In addition, Rahu blows big wind into Gemini and Libra. In 2013 – 2014, both Saturn and Rahu were in Libra while Jupiter was in Gemini. What did you grow then? This upcoming year could be the next level of that project.

As the months roll by, we will continue to include Jupiter’s power of positivity, growth, and abundance in our analysis. For now, reflect back on that last transit, realizing that YOU have also grown and changed, and that your chart has advanced to new planetary periods. You may not be looking at exact replicas of what occurred then, for good or ill. Take this exercise as a suggestion and find the common themes without getting stuck on exact details.

Sun Transits Taurus May 14 – June 14

With the “one in, one out” plan in action, Jupiter floats out of Taurus on May 14th, with the Sun moving in to occupy Taurus later that day. This takes some of the focus out of Venus’ Libra, but shifts it to Venus’ earth sign, Taurus. After a growth cycle injection from Jupiter for the past year, the Sun’s entrance into Taurus could feel stabilizing in the midst of the outer planets shifting through the latter part of May.

Sun in Taurus is creative, fertile, and social. This is the last month of spring before the Summer solstice on Friday, June 20th. While the churning continues with Jupiter, Rahu, and Ketu shifting signs, the Sun reminds us to continue to protect those new shoots that we are fostering, as this is the most vulnerable time for growth.

With so many moving pieces outside of our control, once again, turn to those things that you can care for, foster, and nurture in order to keep your mind and body stabilized as the channel changes.

Rahu and Ketu Shift (Mean Node) May 18

Because of the wobbly nature of the nodal axis, we’ve come up with two ways of keeping track of them. First is the True node calculation, which accounts for the erratic back and forth of the nodes, which results in mostly backward motion with short bouts of forward motion. It could be that following the True node on a daily basis helps us to predict a bit more accurately how that day is going to go.

Second, we have the Mean node calculation, with “mean” indicating average. This calculation averages the position of the nodes so that their motion is always retrograde. Interpreting the Mean Node position of Rahu and Ketu could be better for general predictions with longer time spans.

The nodal axis spends about 1.5 years in each sign and churns through the zodiac in the opposite direction from the rest of the planets, who each have mass and are visible. The nodes are shadows, visible only in the few moments that they are doing their job, which is to temporarily and predictably block the light of either the Sun or the Moon.

Mean node Rahu will transit Aquarius from May 18, 2025 to December 5, 2026. This is a powerful transit for Rahu, who is co-ruler of Aquarius. Planets transiting their own signs tend to show strength in their expression. The jury is out whether strong Rahu is a positive or negative thing; let’s say the effects will vary on a case by case basis.

Rahu’s reputation precedes him, as he brings instability, innovation, and disruption while he motors down the road toward his desires. The chaotic energy of Rahu forces us into a state of relaxed surrender on the good days and a plunge into panic on the difficult days. The opposing force of headless Ketu is always the balance point for this rapid Rahu reaction. Sit down, be quiet, steady your mind, and then get back into the game.

Simultaneously, Ketu will finish its Virgo transit and shift into Leo, which is opposite to Aquarius. Ketu tends to have fiery energy that when placed in a fiery sign like Leo could cause spontaneous combustion. On a physical level, that sounds like a hazard to be aware of, and maybe it would be smart to do some extra fire mitigation around the home. On a spiritual level, this could be an exciting and uplifting period that brings a sense of liberation. Ketu’s reputation for creating and removing blockages is accurate; we’re completing the veil lifting in Virgo and moving on to the blockages we may make or experience in the house or domain of life where the sign of Leo shows up in our charts.

Rahu will be aspecting the other air signs from Aquarius, bringing Libra and Gemini into the upcoming surf competition. The word for aspect in Sanskrit is “drishti” which means “to gaze.” Rahu, being a head without a body, has the eyes as one of his main tools, reminding us to keep our eye on the prize. Ketu, without eyes, technically can’t look around much. Some lineages maintain that Ketu doesn’t aspect, which may come as a relief to some of you who are understanding that Ketu causes blockages. Other lineages give Ketu similar aspects as Rahu. You can choose what feels right to you.

The last transit of Rahu in Aquarius and Ketu in Leo ran from October 2006 – April 2008. If echos of events that occurred during that time are arising, it could be that Rahu or Ketu is pushing you to address similar themes in the coming 1.5 years.

Mercury Transits Taurus May 23 – June 6

Mercury moves from Aries into Taurus on May 23rd for a rapid transit that lands him in his own sign of Gemini on June 6th. Mercury is on the speedy part of his routine, where he covers ground quickly. Racing through the first three zodiac signs starting on May 6th, he lands in Cancer on June 22nd where he lingers for over two months due to a retrograde cycle.

The clue here is that things are moving forward. With Mercury free of debilitation and the drama created in Pisces, we should be looking ahead and figuring out ways to make strides in our Mercury world, which includes the management of all the basic daily routines, shopping, financial management, communication, organization, scheduling, and travel plans.

The last week of May and the first week of June see Mercury well placed in Taurus where we may feel inspired to network both socially and professionally, as well as to make strides in creative projects.

New Moon in Taurus/Rohini May 26

As we see the month of May wrapping up, the Moon slides into the arms of the Sun once again for the new Moon at 12 degrees Taurus on May 26th. This is the first new Moon after the slate of outer planet changes that began in late March. May 26th falls on a Monday, the day of the week ruled by the Moon, and the Sun and Moon are joining in the first pada of Rohini nakshatra, also ruled by the Moon.

Among the Moon’s domains are emotional intelligence, sensitivies, and natural reactions to the world happening to us. The Moon in our chart is the gateway to our emotions and vulnerability, and reflects how we give and receive nurturing and unconditional love.

Use the days around the end of May as a mental and physical re-set. Taurus is a stable sign, urging us to look up and enjoy the natual world around us, to nurture our connections, and to enjoy the fruits of the earth, allowing them to rejuvenate us.

Take some time to refill your cup and adjust to the environmental changes. Mercury joins the Sun and Moon in Taurus, bringing together both of the mind-related planets, with the soul-related day star, urging us to prepare for a realignment with our creative purpose.

Saturn from Pisces will be aspecting this zone where Sun, Moon, and Mercury are joining, reminding us of the hard work that has led us to this present moment. Let Saturn be the stable back foot in your stance, reminding you of lessons learned that can be translated into protective care for the forward foot that is about to land.

Rahu and Ketu Shift (True Node) May 29

As if to click the dial into the next slot, the True node calculation of Rahu sees May 29th being Rahu’s move, once and for now, into the late degrees of Aquarius through November 25, 2026. Simultaneously, True node Ketu moves to the late degrees of the Sun’s sign of Leo.

Please refer to the section above about the Mean node shift to get the broad details about this nodal axis transit. That description applies to both True and Mean node calculations; it is the timing that varies. It would be interesting to pay attention to events that arise around these two different Rahu-Ketu shift dates. What does the Mean node bring up and what does the True node bring up? Let’s see!

Venus Transits Aries May 31 – June 29

Venus finally departs from her exaltation sign of Pisces on May 31st. After a long stint of intense conjunctions, eclipses, and a retrograde phase, we have the planet of beauty, connection, and love emerging onto the shore, entering into Aries for about a month.

Venus will be solo in Aries, which could actually bode well for those in a new phase of relationship, including those relationships which have been through the wringer and survived, rebuilding toward a stronger bond.

Sometimes lone planets give us an opportunity to experience their messages in a clear way, with no competition from the other planets. This means we may be able to find a new stride with our relationships, businesses, and creative efforts.

In addition to the solo transit, there are no aspects from any other planet coming into Aries, save for the Moon on a couple of days as it moves through Libra. We will look into the potential of the Venus in Aries transit more in the June forecast.
