New Moon in Aries May 12

The new Moon will occur in the late degrees of Aries, early in the morning of May 12. This is a good position to begin any campaign that requires great effort, tenacity, and power. With the preponderance of planets in the down-to-Earth sign of Taurus for the remainder of the month, we should be able to see the manifestation of material results from projects begun at this time.

7 Planets in Taurus May 14

The astrological highlight of this May, 2002, is the conjunction of numerous planets in the sign of Taurus. As May begins, the planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, and Rahu occupy the sign of the Bull. With the planets of communication, love, power, restraint, and worldly desires in the sign of material resources and relationship, many of us may feel that this time is a reconciliation of how the different parts of us operate within our partnerships and to our material resources. On May 14, the party will get even larger, with both the Sun entering Taurus and the Moon exiting that sign. For a brief period (between 5:00-5:30 pm, PDT and between 5:00-8:00 pm, EDT, etc.) there will be seven planets in Venus earth sign.

Mercury Retrograde May 16 - June 8

As if five plus planets in one sign for a good chunk of the month isn't exciting enough, everybody's friend, Mercury, will be going into his retrograde cycle on May 16, through June 8. I predict that the effects will be felt as early as May 10. As the planet that rules communication and exchange of ideas changes course and visually goes against the grain because of his closer proximity to Earths orbit, we may experience the classic Mercury retrograde breakdowns. Remedies: Slow Down!, double check, back up your computers, update your anti-virus software, tune up cars and bikes, and prepare yourself for miscommunication and telephone antics

Full Moon in Scorpio May 26

The Full Moon occurs early in the morning on May 26 in the sign of Scorpio. Here is the culmination of the lunar cycle begun on May 12. This could be a time of feeling the deeper implications of the massive pow-wow of planets in the sign that represents our material comfort, beauty in our surroundings, and devotion to others. We may become aware at this time how these things affect our inner lives, and would do well to use the waning of the Moon to consider how we can adjust our material lives to offer ourselves a more harmonious environment.

Calculations are done using the Chitrapaksha ayanamsha and the mean node. Timings are based on Mountain Time Zone, US.
