The Houses

There are twelve houses in each person's chart, and this division demarcates different fields of play, or domains of life. The rising sign establishes our first house, and the zodiac will be overlaid upon the houses in their natural order. For example, a person with Aries rising will have Taurus in the 2nd house, Gemini in the 3rd, etc. Following is a list of significations for each house.

1. Self, appearance, body, well being, general prosperity.
2. Resources, livelihood, youth, early education, speech.
3. Motivation, power, hobbies and interests, brothers, friends and companions.
4. Mother, home, emotions, property, vehicles.
5. Creativity, entertainment, children, romance, intelligence.
6. Disease, healing, enmity, foreigners.
7. Relationship, partnership, marriage, social nature, the other.
8. Longevity, research, death, destruction, inheritance, distant travels.
9. Grace, luck, fortune, father, religion, philosophy.
10. Achievement, skill, success, career, vocation.
11. Gain, increase, goals, aspiration, individuality.
12. Loss, liberation, limitation, sorrow, decrease, renunciation.
